The superstar trio of Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Ernie Els took time off from practicing for the SMBC Singapore Open on Wednesday to visit their rival, and sometimes nemesis, Tiger Woods at Madame Tussauds on Sentosa.
They could not resist taking the in vogue “Mannequin Challenge” as they imitated Woods’ famous follow through.
In interviews ahead of the SMBC Singapore Open, which tees off at Sentosa Golf Club on Thursday, all three talked about what they expect now Woods is back playing competitively after a long injury lay-off.
“It is exciting news for golf that Tiger Woods has come back to play – he has been everything to the game the last 20 years,” said Scott, a three-time winner of the Singapore Open. “For me personally I hope he can stay fit and healthy for the whole year and get his game back to where he wants it to be and where we all like to see him playing.”
Els said that it would be great to see Woods recapture his old form and did not rule out the possibility of him winning another Major.
“It will be great to see if Tiger can get in the mix in some big events and create more of a buzz, I would love to see him play as he did back in nineties. Not sure if that is going to happen but would love to see him play really good golf,” said Els.
“If Darren Clarke, Phil Mickelson and myself can do it (win a Major in their forties) – he surely thinks that he can. I am sure it is on his agenda.”
Said Garcia: “It is going to be interesting to see how everything goes and how he reacts, and how it (his back) feels on the golf course. We will wait and see.”
