SMBC Singapore Open champion Song Younghan of Korea is hitting the right notes again just months away from the defence of his title.
Song came close to winning his second tournament on the Japan Tour before being pipped by veteran Yuta Ikeda in a marathon playoff on Monday.
Ikeda drew level with Song on a total of 14 under 270 at the Honma Tourworld Cup with a birdie on the 17th hole on Sunday and the duo were still locked together when darkness fell after four playoff holes.
The pair returned on Monday and Ikeda evenutally prevailed after five more holes of sudden death.
In January, Song recorded a slender victory over then world number one Jordan Spieth in the SMBC Singapore Open.
He claimed his maiden victory with unflappable play over the closing holes of the tournament in a Monday finish. Song sank a testing 10 footer for par at the 16th then parred the last two holes for a one-under 70 and a total of 12-under 272, one ahead of Spieth.
Three-time champion Adam Scott of Australia and popular Spaniard Sergio Garcia have confirmed their participation in the SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club from January 19-22, 2017.
The tournament will again bring together the leading players from the Asian Tour and the Japan Golf Tour Organisation.
